Cleveland shop picks up additional chores after consolidation review

BOSTON Independent Marcus Thomas in Cleveland today said it has retained $9 million in Ohio Lottery business and added $6.5 million in new work from the client following a mandated review.

The larger portion of the assignment covers TV and sponsorships, while the additional material includes print, radio, outdoor and online media.

The combined $15.5 million, two-year contract carries a pair of two-year renewal options.

Six other undisclosed finalists competed.

Client deputy marketing director Terri Tancredi said in a statement: "We are pleased to continue to have Marcus Thomas as our partner. The comprehensive nature of the plan they submitted and their ideas for maximizing our budget are completely consistent with the working relationship they have demonstrated to us day in and day out."

Marcus Thomas managing partner Jim Nash added: "I am especially happy for our people and the recognition this win represents for the level of talent and trust, and the quality of the thinking and services, that they have provided."

The shop has worked on various elements of the business for almost 35 years.

All told, the agency has about $85 million in billings and 95 employees working in Cleveland and an outpost in Youngstown, Ohio. Other clients include Nestle, MTD Products, Bendix and Caterpillar.
