Hearst Purchases Rodale Inc.'s Global Magazine and Book Businesses

The deal will close in early 2018

Hearst has bought Rodale Inc., the publisher of some of the largest, most established health and wellness lifestyle brands—including Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Runner’s World—and a book publishing arm.

The announcement, which was released on Wednesday evening, did not disclose the exact terms of the agreement, but it did state that Rodale’s 93 editions in 64 countries would become part of Hearst’s portfolio in early 2018.

This news comes months after Rodale executives discussed the desire to sell all or most of the company’s titles.

Upon completion of the acquisition, which will need government approval, Hearst Magazines will operate Rodale’s multi-platform content business.
