BuzzFeed’s Adam Serwer is heading to The Atlantic with Foreign Policy’s Siddhartha Mahanta joining him, while Sacha Zimmerman will take on a new role as features editor.
Serwer, who has been national editor at BuzzFeed, will join The Atlantic Aug. 15 as the deputy editor of the Politics & Policy team. Serwer’s pre-BuzzFeed roles included stints as a reporter at MSNBC and Mother Jones. But Serwer caught the attention of TheAtlantic.com editor J.J. Gould long before then, and, as with Politics & Policy head Yoni Appelbaum, it was because of Ta-Nehisi Coates.
