NY Times Revives Managing Editor Role

Joe Kahn becomes the paper's second-highest ranking editor.

The New York Times has a managing editor for the first time since 2014. The paper has appointed Joe Kahn to the role.

Kahn most recently served as an assistant editor for international and is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner. He has been with the Times since 1998.

“In a newsroom of exceptional journalists, Joe stands out,” said Times executive editor Dean Baquet, in a statement. “He was one of our finest foreign correspondents and has become one of our very best editors.
