Oxford Dictionaries Word of The Year Is an Emoji

tears-of-joy-emojiAccording to Oxford Dictionaries, the Word of The Year is… Not even a word. It’s an emoji. Specifically, the “Face with Tears of Joy,” or 😂.

Oxford said 😂 won out because of how ubiquitous emojis have become.

“Emojis are no longer the preserve of texting teens – instead, they have been embraced as a nuanced form of expression, and one which can cross language barriers,” explained Oxford editors.

Sure, whatever. We’re just glad lumbersexual didn’t win.
