Following a spike in interest during the pandemic, esports is projected to nearly double in revenue by 2022. Among the platforms ready to capitalize is Evil Geniuses, which has grown its own revenue sixfold in the two-and-a-half years since LaPointe Jameson took the helm as CEO. More recently, the platform attracted an investment from Chinese conglomerate Fosun—which also owns Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. of the English Premier League—giving it a valuation of $255 million. Evil Geniuses also founded one of the first co-ed professional first-person shooter teams.
