Mark Grether

Former Amazon exec Mark Grether is the person behind the wheel of Uber’s ascension from ride-hailing and delivery service to retail media powerhouse. In the two years since he was hired to launch Uber’s advertising arm, he has sold brands including Coca-Cola and Heineken on the tech company’s ability to harness first-party data from its 137 million users to engage them whether they’re on the sofa or in a cab. In its most recent earnings update, Uber revealed it had attracted 55,000 advertisers in the three months ending August 2023, bringing its total client base to around 400,000.
