Nielsen is literally a household name—by dint of its TV audience ratings service that started in 1950. Digital video, though, has been more resistant to the hegemony of one measurement provider. But as a trusted brand with enormous analytical and technology sources, the company has increasingly asserted its value in streaming media. In 2020, Nielsen overhauled its video measurement when it began unveiling a new cross-media solution dubbed Nielsen One, a video analytics tool that lets publishers and marketers transact on a single metric across linear and digital platforms.
