HLN to Show Movies

By Brian Flood

GloryTBS has been successful with its “Dinner & a Movie” series since 1996. Now, its sister network, the re-branded HLN is launching “News and a Movie,” beginning Thursday with the 1989 film “Glory.”

The selection of “Glory” coincides with Black History Month, the 25th anniversary of the film, and Denzel Washington‘s Best Supporting Actor Oscar win for his role as escaped slave Trip.

“News and a Movie” will be hosted by actress Holly Robinson Peete and CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin, with feature segments by “Daily Share” correspondent Rocsi Diaz. The all screens experience will feature additional content on HLNTV.com, Facebook and Twitter, including behind-the-scenes stories about the film.

Much like the TBS version, comedians, journalists and actors will also be on hand to chime in, before or after commercial breaks. The next edition of “News and a Movie” will air in March, spotlighting the topic of innovation with the 1985 comedy “Real Genius.”
