By Kevin Eck

Canadian anchor Ashley Rowe is joining Buffalo, N.Y., ABC affiliate WKBW, according to The Buffalo News.

Rowe, who comes from CTV in Toronto, will anchor at 5, 6 and 11 p.m., filling the spot left by the departure of Joanna Pasceri in December.

In a Channel 7 release announcing Rowe’s hiring, General Manager Mike Nurse said: The station looks “forward to Ashley joining 7 Eyewitness News as a complement to our established news team. Coming from Toronto she understands the Western New York market and has a keen sense of the growth and progress in our area.”

Rowe has been an anchor and reporter at the CTV affiliate in Toronto since 2011 and previously was a writer and reporter for CHCH news and CIXX-FM radio.

The release quotes Rowe as stating: “I have been observing the renaissance happening in Buffalo and the surrounding communities and look forward to telling the stories of the people of Western New York. It’s a great time to join this team and to be a part of a new resurgence in the area.”

Starting Monday, Jan. 18, Rowe will be joined at 5 and 11 p.m. by Jeff Russo. Keith Radford anchors solo at 5:30 p.m. and co-anchors with Rowe at 6 p.m.
