Chris Hurst Leaving WDBJ

By Kevin Eck

WDBJ anchor Chris Hurst announced yesterday he’s leaving the Roanoke, Virginia CBS affiliate at the end of February.

“My life changed dramatically on August 26, 2015, when Alison Parker and Adam Ward were killed while reporting a story live on this station,” said Hurst on-air. “It was forever altered because, as you know, Alison was more than just my colleague. We were in love and planning our future together.”

Ward and Parker were murdered by a former employee while reporting live on the station’s morning show.

Hurst started his career at WDBJ as a reporter in August 2010.

“I don’t know what my future holds. I only know that I’m being called to something greater, that I need to move on to a new chapter, one that has not yet been written. Be assured, however, that you will see me again in whatever new path I decide to take.”
