‘Criminals Suck,’ WBBM Photographer Robbed Covering Super Bowl

By Kevin Eck

Marcus Richardson, a photographer for Chicago CBS-owned station WBBM, was robbed at gunpoint while covering the Super Bowl in San Francisco.

Chicago media writer Robert Feder reports Richardson was shooting a beauty shot when a man with a gun held him up.

“I’m just disappointed and now I have no gear, house/car keys, medication and whatever else was in my backpack,” Richardson posted on Facebook. “Criminals suck.”

CBS 2 did not report on the incident, but spokeswoman Shawnelle Richie confirmed Richardson’s account and said: “Thankfully Marcus did not get hurt.” Richardson was on assignment with CBS 2 sports anchor Ryan Baker, who was not present when the incident occurred.

Here’s the text of his Facebook post, according to Feder:

And in other news I got robbed shooting a beauty shot. They took everything. I am at a complete loss for words and I am sad beyond belief. This is the lowest I’ve ever been doing this job. I am ok they only threatened with a gun. I’m just disappointed and now I have no gear, house/car keys, medication and whatever else was in my backpack. Criminals suck.
