CW Affiliation Switch in San Diego

San Diego is getting a new CW affiliate in September. The network will jump from XETV to Midwest Television-owned CBS affiliate KFMB in September.

“We are thrilled to be adding the CW to the KFMB family,” said KFMB president and GM Alberto Mier y Terán.”It enhances our strong multimedia platform in San Diego and helps us to better serve all San Diegans with compelling programming and award winning local news.”

Beginning September 1, 2017 KFMB will operate as a CBS and CW duopoly. An XETV spokesperson told TVSpy the station is currently evaluating different options.

XETV was an ABC affiliate until 1974. In 1986, it became one of the first stations in the U.S. to carry the Fox Network, which it did until 2008 when it lost that affiliation and started broadcasting the CW.
