Detroit Anchor Jumps to Competition as Digital Anchor

By Kevin Eck

Jason Carr has joined Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV as digital anchor and reporter.

Carr will anchor and report for the station website, creating digital-only content, and also appear on the station’s morning show from the new digital-centric studio space.

“This idea is the intersection of our audience and our on-air and online content,” said vp and GM Marla Drutz. “Jason is an extremely popular and charismatic broadcaster whose passionate interest in the evolution of media makes him the perfect guy to forge new ground with us.”

This morning Carr signed off from WJBK as host of morning show The Nine, then in a Facebook live video, hopped into an SUV and was driven over to WDIV.

He thanked management at the Fox-owned station for waving his noncompete clause so he could make the jump to WDVI so quickly.
