Longtime KSBW Sports Anchor Retiring

By Kevin Eck

KSBW sports director Dennis Lehnen announced he’s getting out of the business after more than three decades on the sports desk.

Lehnen has been at the Salinas-Monterey, Calif., NBC affiliate for 35 years. He started in broadcast as a photographer for KTXL in Sacramento before working as a sports producer at KPIX in San Francisco. He was hired at KSBW in 1981.

“Ive been planning this for a long time,” Lehnen told viewers on last night’s 6 p.m. newscast. “I will be retiring from KSBW. When you get paid for something you love to do it’s not really work.”
