Lubbock TV Reporter Charged in Hit and Run With Station Vehicle

A reporter at Lubbock, Texas NBC affiliate KCBD has been arrested and charged with seriously injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident involving a station vehicle.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports Patricia Villacin is suspected of hitting 24-year-old Taylor Hammond in a crosswalk Thursday evening, and “running over his leg.”

Villacin is charged with a third degree felony count of failure to stop and render aid and was being held in the jail on a $5,000 bond.

[Police] said a witness followed the vehicle and took down its license plate number.

Police located the vehicle at the station.

Dan Jackson, KCBD’s general manager, told the newspaper the station was “fully cooperating with authorities and waiting for them to gather the facts.” Villacin’s bio remains on the station website.
