More than month after opening the country’s first bureau in Cuba, Miami ABC affiliate WPLG is opening a full time bureau in Washington, D.C.

The station, which was bought by Berkshire-Hathaway in 2014, will launch its new bureau in the next few days. There’s no word yet on who will staff it.

“There is tremendous interest in news coming from Washington D.C. these days,” said Bert Medina, WPLG president. “Decisions are being made that impact all of our lives. We go to where the story is and we are investing in this new bureau to better serve our viewers and our market.”
