As we reported yesterday, veteran broadcaster Jim Vance is stepping down from his long-held spot as the 11 p.m. anchor at Washington NBC-owned station WRC.
Florida native Jim Handly has been named Vance’s successor. Handly, currently the 4 and 5 p.m. anchor at the station, has been with WRC since 1992.
Handly announced the news to his fans this morning on Twitter, linking to WRC’s Instagram post above. He wrote:
“Vance is the very Best in the business, and I’m humbled to join @DoreenGentzler at 11pm”
Handly will take over for Vance at the end of May.
