People in eight cities in Canada and the U.S. woke up Tuesday to see billboards featuring tweets from celebrities that expressed wishful thinking prior to their dreams being achieved.
The social network said more than 39 billboards in cities including Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto were unveiled Tuesday, many in the hometowns of the celebrities whose tweets are depicted.
The billboards feature tweets from Matthew Cherry, Diamond DeShields, Leonard Fournette, Niall Horan, Simu Liu, Demi Lovato, Patrick Mahomes, Megan Thee Stallion, Michaela Onyenwere, Issa Rae, Steve Saylor and Bubba Wallace.
Twitter will donate nearly $1 million to nonprofits chosen by the celebrities on their behalf, including Boys and Girls Club, Destination Crenshaw, The 3D Foundation and Unicef Canada.
The social network said there have been roughly 59 million tweets about manifestation over the past three years, with tweets related to that topic doubling in 2021 compared with 2020.
On-air personality and entertainment journalist Gia Peppers will host a conversation on Twitter Spaces Tuesday (Jan. 18) at 3 p.m. ET, highlighting yet more manifestation tweets from celebrities and everyday people on Twitter.
